
City Conducts Scholarship Exams

The city government of San Carlos thru its scholarship program handled by Ildefonso Reyes facilitated the examination for the Negros Occidental Scholarship Program (NOSP)yesterday, March 22 at the Barangay 2 covered court.

At least 30 qualified applicants from San Carlos City took the qualifying examination for various categories including Degree Completion Scholarship, District Educational Scholarship, Indigenous People’s Scholarship, Negros Occidental Provincial Medical and Nursing Scholarship and Scholarship for Children of Non-Returning Overseas Filipino Worker (OFW).
Maryver Cordova, NOSP Scholarship Coordinator said exam results will be posted on the official Facebook account of NOSP after which passers will be scheduled for interview and ranked according to their chosen scholarship category together with other passers from the different municipalities and cities in Negros Occidental.
Cordova added that that applicants can take up any courses in college but they are encouraged to take Agriculture, Fishery, Forestry, Veterinary Medicine and other related courses.
She also noted that during the school year 2020-2021, around 3,600 students in the different cities and municipalities of the province of Negros Occidental applied for the different scholarship categories but recently, only 1,900 have applied due to some factors including the pandemic.
