Mayor Gustilo Inks Agreement with BJMP on Land Donation

The local government of San Carlos City thru City Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo signed a Deed of Usufructuary/Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) on Lot Donation to the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP) at the City Mayor’s Office yesterday, March 25.

The MOA pertains to the 10,000 square meter of land located at Barangay Rizal where the new BJMP facility will be built. BJMP Regional Office VI Director, Jail Chief Superintendent Arnold Buenacosa also signed said MOA in behalf of the BJMP. He said budget and design for the facility will be prepared for now, while construction will start next year.

Buenacosa also said that the old facility will be handed over to the local government after relocating to the new facility.

Gustilo on the other hand said he is happy that the land owned by the local government will be of good use for the BJMP since the facility is not enough for the growing people deprived of liberty (PDLs) committed there being a district jail now. He is also hopeful that budget for the construction of the new jail facility will be included this year so construction could start soon.

Also present during the MOA signing were Atty. Estefanio Libutan Jr., City Administrator; Atty. Juniven Rey Umadhay, Regional Prosecutor BJMP VI; Jail Chief Inspector Alexander Sy, San Carlos City District Jail Warden and other BJMP personnel.
