City Turns Over New H.E. Building

The local government of San Carlos City formally turned over the one unit Home Economics (HE) Building located inside the premises of Florentina Ledesma Elementary School (FLES) in Barangay One to the Department of Education (DepEd) today, April 13.

The single storey resilient-building has a kitchen, dining and receiving areas and toilet budgeted by the local government at P2,134,000 Million, sourced out from the Special Education Fund (SEF); completed last December 2020.

Engr. Rodney Flores, project in-charge of the City Engineering Department (CED) said the building’s design is based on the standard specifications required by DepEd.

Ulysses Lezama, Executive Assistant III of the City Mayor’s Office, in lieu of City Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo said the mayor provides programs which he thinks are beneficial to the people and hoped that the building will be used despite the pandemic since it is important to teach children about healthy eating.

Anthony Liobet, Schools Division Superintendent also recognized the presence of individuals on the said event despite the pandemic. He said the H.E. Building will serve as avenue for children to learn home values and mold them to become better citizens.

Mercedita Vergantiños, FLES Principal is grateful for the local government as well as the DepEd for the said project which will be used during the conduct of their school-based feeding program.

Vergantiños assured that they will continue to support and implement the city government and DepEd’s programs, projects and activities and strive harder to provide quality education to children.

She added that minimum health protocol is being exercised in all their activities as their way of helping the city to minimize the spread of COVID-19.

Also present during the turnover ceremony were Dennis Develos, Assistant Schools Division Superintendent and FLES faculty and staff.
