Dr. Jeff Reonal, Veterinary Services Division chief said castration of animals reduces aggressiveness and prolong their lives compared to uncastrated ones.

He added that their office also offers free animal consultation, rabies vaccination and deworming medicines for livestock like cow, carabaos, goats, chickens and pigs while massive vaccination in far-flung areas of the different barangays is still on-going to lessen risk of rabies.

Reonal urged pet and livestock owners to be responsible and reminded dog owners to disallow their pets to roam freely on the streets as they may cause accidents while their waste may be sources of viruses and infections of other dogs.

Pet lover Clint Caballero of Brgy. 2 was grateful for the free services provided by the City Agriculture’s Office since he said it is expensive for him to acquire services for his pets from private veterinary clinics.

Last March 17, 2022, said Veterinary Services Division also conducted free castration and based on its record, 18 dogs and 5 cats were castrated.
