
DENR-Reg. 7 and DPWH-Siquijor Visit San Carlos Environment Facilities

The Department of Environment and Natural Resources (DENR)-Region 7 and Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH)-Siquijor representatives were in San Carlos City, Oct. 21.
Vicente Calizar, DENR Technical Services Division (TSD) Chief was accompanied by Engrs. Dennis A. Tumala and Ernesto Remow, Jr. of DPWH-Siquijor in visiting the environmental facilities of the city.

Calizar said that their aim is to check the sanitary landfill and wastewater treatment facilities of the city which they plan to replicate in the province of Siquijor.
He cited that they chose San Carlos City because Cong. Saldy S. Villa of Siquijor sought the help of the DENR in the construction of their sanitary landfill and wastewater treatment facilities where San Carlos City is famous of.
“San Carlos City is an ideal place to benchmark for the said project because of its well-managed environmental programs”, he said.
Calizar added that San Carlos City government had successfully implemented its various projects because of its committed people and supportive local officials.
Engr. Arthur Batomalaque, Integrated Waste Management/ Pollution Control Division Head of CEMO presented to the group the environmental programs of the city and further explained to them the implementation and construction of the sanitary landfill and waste water treatment projects.
The group also made a courtesy visit to City Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo accompanied by Engr. Loreto Sanchez, Department, CENRO I and Engr. Batomalaque.
