
Provincial beach volleyball championship culminated

The two-day Provincial Beach Volleyball Championship under the Abanse Negrense Grassroots Development Programs held at the SJRI Field, San Carlos City culminated last Nov. 20.
Participating teams are from the cities of San Carlos, Victorias, Silay, Cadiz, and Talisay and municipalities of Calatrava, Murcia, and EB Magalona.
In the 21 under the girl’s category, EB Magalona’s Anne Lamberto and Ruchie Melancolico dominantly ended the championship match against Chrissandra Faith Ramirez and Ma. Angela Solitario of San Carlos City in two sets with a score of 21-13, 21-15.





Ramirez and Solitario settled as 1st runner-up followed by the pair of Ashley Faye Guanzon and Stacey Solis of Silay City as 2nd runner-up and Madith Jaylie Semillano and Nellyn Joy Amacio of Talisay City as 3rd runner-up.
Carla Villarias and Franz Premaylon of Silay City bagged the 1st place award; Rica Joy Andres and Vilmarie Toos of Talisay City, 2nd place; Ma. Trixie Ann Tingson and Cleo Faith Cortez of Victorias City, 3rd place, and Shai Ann Caballero and Sonlie Ecoy of San Carlos City, 4th place in the 16 under girls category.
Meanwhile, in the 21 under boy’s category, Vince Hofileña and Jan Ernest Peroy of Silay City and Christopher Mansueto and Adrian Reyes of Victorias City played a thrilling game which extended to a deciding match with a score 19-21, 21-14, 15-17.
Hofileña and Peroy were able to snatch the 1st place while Mansueto and Reyes landed in the 2nd place, John Paul Yulatic, and Axel Bigbig, in 3rd place, and Vince Alfred Uy and Fleorence Mathew Tudeja of Victorias City, 4th place in the 21 under boy’s category.
Reneboy Ulgasan and Hervensent Joso of Silay City was the champion; Sam Harris Contiga and Ethan Alcoy of San Carlos City, 2nd place and Joshua Torreña; Gian Baldelovar, 3rd place, and Thomas Emanuel Porter and Nicolas Aguadiza of Cadiz City, 4th place in the 16 under boy’s category.
Champion teams received P5,000; 2nd place winners, P4,000; 3rd place, P3,000; and 4th place P2,000.
Suzette Papio, Admin Aide 3 of the Provincial Sports Office of Negros Occidental, said champion teams will compete against the champion teams from the south of Negros Occidental at the Panaad Park and Stadium, Bacolod City on Nov. 25-26, 2022. She also thanked the local government of San Carlos for facilitating the said event.
