BFP Acquiants Students on Firefighting Tools, Equipment

The Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)-San Carlos in line with the observance of Fire Prevention Month acquainted students on the different firefighting tools and equipment today, March 9.
Students of the four public secondary schools namely: Sipaway National High School (NHS), Julio Ledesma NHS, Bagonbon NHS, Don Carlos NHS were the partipants of the activity dubbed as open station tour.
BFP personnel educated the students on the mission and vision of BFP, donning and doffing of personal protective equipment (PPE) with self-contained breathing apparatus (SCUBA); proper use of fire extinguisher; firefighter’s equipment; E.D.I.T.H or Exit Drill in the Home and fire safety tips.

Chief Inspector Rufino Tañedo Jr., City Fire Marshal said it was the first open station tour where the students are encouraged to participate and freely ask questions. He is hopeful to built a substation at Sipaway Island this year.
FO1 Jeffrey Anobling said the program aimed at educating the community especially the students about fire safety and preventive measures and EDITH which their agency has been campaigning.
Anobling added their agency gives emphasis to said campaign since most of the fire victims died of suffocation because of lack of fire exit plan.
He encouraged students aspiring to become firefighters to study hard and take eligibity exam.
Aubrey Descartin, 16 years old student of Sipaway NHS said the knowledge she gained during the tour can be used in their school and home.
She also thanked BFP for said activity.
