MARCH 13, 2023

At least 419 students out of the 454 applicants in San Carlos City took the qualifying exam for the Negros Occidental Scholarship Program (NOSP) of the provincial government this morning, March 9, at Julio Ledesma National High School (JLNHS).
The NOSP Division facilitated the examination consisting of different scholarship categories, including Children of Non-Returning OFW (CoNROFW), Persons With Disability (PWD), District Educational Scholarship (DES), Indigenous People’s scholarship, PAGKAON-DCS (PDCS), Degree Completion Scholarship, Negros Occidental Provincial Medical and Nursing Scholarship (NOPMaNS), PAGKAON, and Midwifery Scholarship.
Maryver A. Cordova, NOSPD Human Resource Management Officer III, said she’s happy that many Sancarloseños applied for the scholarship now compared to last year.
Cordova added that the beneficiary students just have to wait for the results to proceed with the interview before ranking for the final passers.

She also thanked the local government of San Carlos City and JLNHS for assisting with the examination.
Grade 12 students Angel Marie P. Acojedo, 18 years old; Alliah Gwyneth Lynn M. Azucena, 18 years old; and July C. Baquiller, 20 years old, of JLNHS said the exam was easy and they were able to finish within the allotted time.
Angela Mare Campos, a 19-year-old student from Central Philippines State University, said she applied for the scholarship program due to financial constraints and to sustain her education.
Campos also thanked Governor Lacson for sending people to hold the qualifying exam in the city, which saved them travel costs.
