
Women Unite to Celebrate Women's Month

Women from the different barangays in San Carlos City assembled today, March 18 at the City Auditorium to officially celebrate the National Women’s Month.
The celebration carried the theme; WE for gender equality and inclusive society.
San Carlos City Children and Women’s Affairs, Inc. (SCCCAWAI) President Ma. Consuelo Janice Carmona said the assembly signified the support of the city for the various programs for women.
Carmona also thanked Negros Occidental Governor Eugenio Jose V. Lacson; Congressman Gerardo P. Valmayor Jr. of the 1st District of Negros Occidental; City Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo; Vice Mayor Christopher Paul S. Carmona; Provincial Board Members Pocholo Yuvienco and Rommel T. Debulgado; SP Member and Committee Chair on Women and Family Victoriana Cabili; SP Member Armando L. Laguda Jr. and Atty. Pierra F. Lamayo, LGOO VI of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG)-San Carlos for also extending their support.















Atty. Pierra F. Lamayo, LGOO VI of DILG also said she hoped that more programs, policies, and measures will be implemented for gender equality.
She also emphasized that as an advocate, she desires that no woman in the city will experience violence or any form of discrimination.
SP Member and Committee Chair on Women and Family Victoriana Cabili also shared that our country is one of the best performing countries in Asia in terms of gender equality and ranked 19th out of 146 countries which means women are significant in the Philippines.
Governor Lacson also showed his support for being active in various programs of the Provincial Council for Women; added the celebration is the result of women’s bravery during the 20th century when women protested for equality.
He also assured that his administration will continue to create measures and programs about the good practices for a well-defined gender and development and strengthen the Magna Carta of Women.
Meanwhile, Mayor Gustilo also stressed that he requested for funds from the province for the improvement of roads in the urban area for transportation convenience.
He is hopeful for a better celebration next year where they can hold a raffle with various appliances at stake.
A thanksgiving mass and parade were held before the assembly.
Among the participants were officials and other women representatives from 18 barangays; Philippine National Police; Dumaguete Cathedral Credit Cooperative (DCCCO); and City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) staff headed by its officer-in-charge Edena Dagondon; and women with disabilities.
