CLDO Conducts Basic Swedish Massage Training
MARCH 23, 2023
The Cooperatives and Livelihood Development Office (CLDO) in San Carlos City facilitates a 5-day Basic Swedish Massage training starting March 20 until 24 in Sipaway Island.
At least 12 individuals 18 to 45 years old who are representatives of the Sipaway Island Overnight Shed Association (SIOSA) are the training participants.
Yesterday, the training was held at Monica’s Resthouse in Brgy. San Juan with resource persons Christian Mary Mascada and George Destura focusing on hands-on massage, including back massage prone positioning, leg and foot massage, arm massage–supine position, and leg massage-supine position.

Mascada and Destura also reminded participants to sanitize before and after the massage and avoid the critical areas of the body.
Edith Dano, CLDO Coastal and Non-Agricultural Association Project In-Charge said the training targeted to equip homestay owners with a skill they can offer their guests.
Dano pointed out that massage therapists should consider the client’s suggestions, like massage pressure, and use what they have trained for and keep updating or harnessing their skills since it could be a great source of income.
Anna Leah Enerlan, 18 years old and daughter of Lorna’s Homestay owner, said a massage therapist should be patient and careful in dealing with clients.
Enerlan said they could earn with the skill learned since most guests, especially foreign tourists, want to relax through massage.
She thanked the city government for providing them with the training since Sipaway Island is a growing tourist spot, and it will be a big help to the community.
In addition, participants learned the purpose of massage, benefits and effects of massage, vital requirements for massage, body warm-up, meditation, five manipulation techniques of Swedish and their variations, do’s and don’ts, endangerment sites of the body, draping management, client positioning, and before and aftercare.
They will also accept clients at the Whispering Palms Island Resort on the culmination of the 5-day basic Swedish massage training.
