City, DSWD Turns Over Cheque to BASFA Members

San Carlos City Administrator Atty. Estefanio S. Libutan Jr. and Raymund Gil G. Cervantes, Project Development Officer II of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD)-Western Visayas handed over the P300,000 grant to Bagonbon Small Farmers Association (BASFA) today, Apr. 4.
Beltran J. Tabares and Jerico T. Vergavera, BASFA chairman and vice chairman received the check.
Cervantes said the grant was funded thru DSWD-Payapa at Masaganang Pamayanan (PAMANA) as livelihood capital assistance for the BASFA members.
Vergavera on the other hand said, it was the group’s second assistance received from the DSWD, the first was in 2017 which amounted to P500,000 for rice mill construction.
He added the grant will augment their rice mill and rice retailing business.
Vergavera said, that rice cultivation is the common livelihood of the people and those of BASFA members which is why they prioritized the rice mill and rice retail business.
Elmer Artillaga, Administrative Officer III of City Social Welfare and Development Office, assisted the said turnover of check.
