City Commemorates 81st Araw ng Kagitingan

The local government unit (LGU) of San Carlos City joined the commemoration of the 81st Araw ng Kagitingan or Day of Valor with the theme, Kagitingan ng mga Beterano, Pundasyon ng Nagkakaisang Pilipino today, Apr. 4.

City Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo and City Vice Mayor Christopher Paul S. Carmona together with Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) members Armando L. Laguda Jr.; Jeffrey M. Hidalgo; Jose Carlos L. Villarante; Victoriana C. Cabili; Benito Y. Gustilo Jr.; Local Department of Education (DepEd) officials headed by School Governance Operations Division (SGOD) Maria Cristina F. Bahinting, Ed.D., Chief Education Supervisor; Boy Scouts of the Philippines; Girl Scouts of the Philippines; ROTC of Tañon College and Colegio de Sto. Tomas-Recoletos; and Veterans Federation of the Philippines led the flower offering at the foot of the unknown soldier’s statue which honors the valiant fallen heroes during the World War II particularly the famous Bataan Death March.
Victoria S. De Asis, Public School District Supervisor (PSDS) Cluster 5 said that the celebration of the Day of Valor coincides with the Philippine Veterans week which honored the bravery of the Filipino veterans who defended the freedom of the country.
She also added that the theme promotes and preserves the principle, ideas and deeds of the veterans as a way of strengthening the love of the country especially among the youth.
Joclin Mag-aso, OIC PSDS Aralin Panlipunan thanked the veterans for their successful stories of patriotism; assured that DepEd will inculcate among learners the values of being Makabayan so that their legacy and influence will continue to grow.
Moreover, Mayor Gustilo also thanked the veterans for their sacrifice that leads to freedom and democracy.
Also present during the program were LGU-Department Heads; Philippine National Police; Regional Mobile Force Battalion 605th Company 2nd Maneuver platoon; Bureau of Jail Management and Penology; Bureau of Fire Protection; and District III School Administrators.
Said program was hosted by District III, Cluster 5 and 6.
