
Barangays to Formulate Juvenile Intervention Program

The representatives of the 18 barangays in San Carlos City underwent a workshop on the formulation of the 3-year Comprehensive Barangay Juvenile Intervention Program (CBJIMP) today, April 12 at Brgy. II Function Hall.
Edena Dagondon, City Social Welfare & Dev. Office (CSWDO) Officer-in-Charge said the workshop intends to educate the barangay officials, particularly the punong barangays and secretaries on which intervention programs, activities, and services should be provided for the child in conflict with the law (CICL) and children at risk (CAR) based on the CBJIMP.





Dagondon added thru the program, children who committed offenses will no longer undergo court proceedings but a diversion program to serve the sentence for the said offense.
CSWDO Social Welfare Officer II Lavern Rigor said the applicable data in CBJIMP is a requirement for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) and will be consolidated into the Comprehensive Local Juvenile Intervention Program (CLJIMP).
Narciso Abad III, CAR/CICL Provincial Social Welfare and Development Office (PSWDO) Focal Person and workshop resource person, discussed the background and overview of Republic Act 9334 amended by RA 10630 or the Juvenile Justice and Welfare Act (JJWA); government vision for children; project development cycle; result-based management; and situation analysis.
Aside from lectures, participants also performed group reporting on the status of data gathering and were taught about worksheet completion and situation write-up.
Atty. Pierra F. Lamayo, LGOO VI of the Department of the Interior and Local Government, representatives of the Philippine National Police, Women and Children’s Protection Desk, and San Carlos City Council for Youth Affairs were also present during the workshop facilitated by CSWDO.
