San Carlos City, 2nd Best LGU Booth Compliant with RA 9003

San Carlos City was awarded the 2nd Best LGU Booth compliant with RA 9003 among the 31 local government units in Negros Occidental.
San Carlos City received P15,000 and a trophy as second place winner and another P2,000 for being the Best in Information and Education Campaign (IEC) given during the culmination program of the Panaad sa Negros Festival 2023, last April 23 at the Panaad Stadium, Brgy. Mansilingan, Bacolod City.

Criteria for said search include the presence of four or five waste bins (biodegradable, recyclable, residual, special, and toxic and hazardous waste), the strict practice of proper segregation, clean area, the presence of SWM focal person and/or C/MENRO representative, teamwork between Tourism and Environment staff, Solid Waste Management Corner, strict implementation of no use of single-use plastic, daily recording of waste generated in kilogram per category, best Solid Waste Management innovations, and observance of garbage collection schedule which complement Republic Act 9003 or the Philippine Ecological Solid Waste Management Act of 2000.
Sagay City was awarded first place in said search while Bago City was third Place winner.
Moreover, in this year’s Panaad Festival, San Carlos City bagged 3rd Place in the Best of Festival Dances Competition, 1st in Festival Video Introduction, ranked 16th in the Philippine Folk Dance Competition, 7th in Chorale Competition, and Latin 6th in Dancesport Competition.
San Carlos City Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo thanked the people behind the successful participation of the city in the Panaad sa Negros Festival 2023.
“We were able to bring our rich culture, share our traditions, history, and our vibrant festivity that made our participation truly a success during the festival,” Gustilo said.
The 2023 Panaad sa Negros Festival was attended by Senators Francis Tolentino and Christopher Lawrence “Bong” Go, and Tourism Secretary Christina Garcia-Frasco.
