“San Carlos Experiences Urban Flooding due to Heavy Rains caused by localized thunderstorms; Mayor Rene Gustilo Urges City Engineers to Hasten Flood Mitigating Measures”

Heavy rainfall since early morning today has caused submerged the city’s low lying areas to flood waters.
Due to continuous rains that could further inundate roads and residential areas in the city, Rene Gustilo orders the temporary suspension of classes today and tomorrow while government work continues to ensure that basic services particularly in mitigating the impacts of the inclement weather are extended.
Two families were evacuated in Barangay Rizal while several motorists were stranded along the national highway leading to Calatrava due to flood.
This afternoon, Mayor Gustilo holds an emergency meeting with the city engineers with Engr. Magnolia Antonio, OIC – City Engineering Department, to discuss immediate mitigating measures as rains will persist in the coming days due to the low pressure area imbedded in the ITCZ, according to DOST PAGASA.
Meanwhile, thr City DRRM Office Operations Center has raised the Unified Alert Level 3 (Code Orange) as it activated the Incident Management Team headed by IC Engr. Jonathan Tayo, who shall facilitate and coordinate multi-agency response due to flooding.
