
Tennis Tour, NextGen Series Held in San Carlos City

The Cebuana Lhuillier held a Tennis Tour, NextGen Series starting May 4 until 7, 2023 at San Carlos Tennis Center.
Said event in cooperation with the local government unit (LGU)-San Carlos City thru San Carlos Tennis Association (SACATA) is participated by players from the cities of Escalante, Toledo, San Carlos, Guihulngan, Cebu, Bacolod, Dumaguete, and the province of Bohol, ages between 17 to 25 yrs old.








At least 31 individuals competed in the Men’s Single, Women’s Single, Men’s Double, and Women’s Double categories.
Non-student players who will reach the quarter-final up to the championship round will receive monetary prizes ranging from P1,000 to P15,000 while student players will receive tennis equipment, such as tennis balls and other sporting items.
Jackie Tomacruz, General Manager of Cebuana Lhuillier said the event aimed at helping tennis players who are graduating from the age group or the juniors in transition to playing college tennis and professional tennis.
He added they chose San Carlos as the venue of the tournament because of the good facilities and excellent tennis program for the youth.
He also thanked the local government officials and officers of SACATA for hosting the tournament.
Norman Joseph Enriquez, 25 years old from Cebu City and a finalist, shared that it’s his 2nd time joining the tournament, which provided him the experience and preparations for the upcoming Philippine Columbian Association (PCA) opening.
He also thanked City Vice Mayor Christopher Paul Carmona for supporting the game and the players.
Meanwhile, Enriquez will go up against Christopher Encarnacion of Cebu City in the Men’s Single, Enriquez and Francis Hidalgo of Cebu City against Encarnacion and Dale Exequil Estonillo of Cebu City in the Men’s Double, Tiffany Claire Nocos of Cebu City will challenge Jofe Ann Cocoy of Bacolod City in the Women’s Single, while Nocos and Cocoy will go up against Sheynna Yu and Ghylliana Yu of Dumaguete City in the Women’s Double tomorrow, May 7 for the championship round.
Vice Mayor Christopher Paul Carmona and Jan Christopher Carmona, Executive Assistant to the City Vice Mayor were also present during the tournament.
