
City Celebrates National Heritage Month

San Carlos City Heritage, Culture and Arts Council kicked off the observance of National Heritage Month yesterday, May 10, at the People’s Park, Barangay Three.












National Heritage Month is observed annually since 2003 thru Presidential Proclamation No. 439, and this year the celebration carries the theme: Change and Continuity.
Among the activities conducted include the Nabingkalan Group of Artists Art Work Exhibit, painting competition for grade 5 and 6 pupils, the Cabagtasan Indigenous People (IPs) Mat Weaving Exhibit, revisiting Heritage Tree Site, and San Carlos City Bonsai Showcase.
Dr. Archilles Ponferrada, San Carlos City Heritage Culture and Arts Focal Person and People’s Park Management Office Head said, this year the council is focusing on promoting the artworks of the Nabingkalan Group of Artists and the products of IPs in Barangay Codcod, and help them market their products.
City Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo; SP Members Benito Y. Gustilo, Carlos Manuel Valmayor, and Victoriana Cabili; and Engr. Loreto Sanchez, CENRO I, led the planting of six Kamagong seedlings at the back of the Pavilion at the People’s Park and teachers of different schools in the city also planted flowering trees along the miniature Alinsyawan River.
City Administrator Estefanio S. Libutan Jr.; Ma. Chat Delima-Cordero, Office for Human Resource Management Head, and City Accountant Jose Venfort Legaria also participated in the celebration.
