
Red Cross Health Caravan Reached IPs in Codcod

The Philippine Red Cross Health Caravan benefitted the Indigenous People (IPs) of So. Cabagtasan in Barangay Codcod thru it’s services offered yesterday, May 12, at Cabagtasan Elementary School.
The Philippine Red Cross Negros Occidental Bacolod City Chapter led the caravan in partnership with the San Carlos City government thru the City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office and Red Cross San Carlos City Branch.





















Among the services offered were free blood sugar testing, blood typing, provision of medicines and multivitamins for children, and free consultation with Dr. Russel Ray G. Alanes, Volunteer Doctor of the Philippine Red Cross Bacolod City Chapter and Mary Genevieve G. Montaño and Ma. Fe Leonoras of the San Carlos City Hospital.
Rita Benita Mirasol, Chapter Administrator of the Philippine Red Cross Negros Occidental Bacolod City Chapter, said the caravan is a nationwide activity of the Philippine Red Cross where they provide services to the residents of disadvantaged areas who barely get medical services.
Meanwhile, Vice Mayor Christopher Paul S. Carmona, SP Members Benito Y. Gustilo, Carlos Manuel Valmayor, and JB Spring C. Bacurnay distributed five kilos of rice and a hygiene kit to each IP.
Chester Christian E. Dela Victoria, DRRM Officer and Training Management Team Head, and Lee Roble, Local DRRM Assistant of CDRRMO, also lectured to the Supreme Pupil Government officers of Cabagtasan Elementary School and parents about disaster preparedness.
Vice Mayor Carmona thanked the Philippine Red Cross for bringing the various services to San Carlos City and prioritizing the IPs of So. Cabagtasan, Barangay Codcod and Mayor Gustilo.
Vilma Amban, Chairman of Cabagtasan Tribal Council, is grateful to the Philippine Red Cross and the local government for the free medical services provided thru the caravan.
Also present at the event were Joe Recalex Alingasa, CDRRM Officer, Jiezyl Villanueva, Principal of Cabagtasan Elementary School, and Punong Barangay Danilo Lastimoso of Barangay Codcod.
