PEMO Assists Local Forestry in Trees Assessment and Inventory
MAY 19, 2023
The Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) assisted the City Environment Management Office (CEMO) Forestry Division during its Trees Assessment and Inventory of the tree parks in San Carlos City from May 17-18, 2023.

Among the areas visited with tree parks are the People’s Park and Sitios Medina and Katiclan.
Carlo Eran, PEMO Senior Environment Management Specialist, said the activity aimed at identifying the trees planted, conservation, and status; determining the number of trees planted and carbon stock within the tree park.
He added a tally sheet would be provided to determine the number of trees, species planted, and volume of trees in each tree park.
He also said the data acquired are vital for the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) of the Department of the Interior and Local Government (DILG); if completed, San Carlos City would be the only LGU in the entire province to have a 100% inventory of all trees planted.
During the activity, Eran; Joel Biñas, Forest Ranger; and Helbert Pabillo, Community Development Assistant, taught the Forestry Division personnel how to get the height, diameter breast height, species, merchantable height, location thru GPS, and tree category.
Marilou Talabero, Administrative Aide IV, and job order employees Larina Jimenez and Daryl Bocablo said conducting tree assessment and inventory is easy; they plan to do said activity every Saturday to have concrete data on said tree parks.
CEMO Forestry Division Head Julius Galan was also present during the activity.
