Mayor Gustilo cited the many programs sustained by the city government for the welfare of children especially pertaining to their major rights to survival, development, protection and participation.

One of the highlights in his report for health care is the increase in TB incidents in the city from 7 in 2017 to 16 in 2018 which should not be a cause for alarm because families with TB affectations now came to the open unlike before to seek for health assistance for their children affected with TB because they know the city government can help them thru the free health services it offers including medicines and laboratory procedures with 100% treatment success rate.

Gustilo was also positive that abuses among children will continue to decline since it was reported that cases of abuse committed against children from 95 in 2017 greatly decreased to 52 in 2018 because of the concerted efforts and information campaign on child protection laws by the local stakeholders and Local Council for the Protection of Children.

He also urged school teachers to not just impart education and knowledge but to nurture and mold every child according to his strength and weaknesses since they also become parents to these students in certain circumstances and school, as second home.

Gustilo ended his speech addressing children to live happily in this phase of their lives without any responsibilities since it would never come back and to never worry because the city government will do its best to care and prepare them to develop their ambitions so they can attain a successful life in the future.
