San Carlos City Inmates Undergo Skills Training

At least 22 inmates of the Bureau of Jail Management & Penology (BJMP) in San Carlos City were placed in a two-day skills training in abaca fiber knotting at the BJMP compound today until tomorrow.

Participating inmates were experienced in making souvenirs items and have already gone previous training on abaca.

Jail Officer III Richard Go thanked the Cooperatives & Livelihood Development Office (CLDO) for making said training available for the inmates so they would have more skills enough to help them start anew when they go out of prison.

City Entrusts Marine Protected Areas to Sipaway Residents

The city government of San Carlos together with its partner RARE Philippines, after the three-year project in the FishForever program turned over the management of marine protected areas (MPAs) in Sipaway Island to its community last April 7, 2018.

Isaac Abello, Program Implementation Manager of RARE said that entrusting to the fisher folks the management of MPAs and its protection was just an initial step for members of the Sipaway Island Managed Access Area (SIMAA) working committee because they still need to undergo series of workshops and capacity building to enhance their potential in delivering their tasks.

More than 25 participants to the 1st regional training workshop on Measuring and Mitigating Short Lived Climate Pollutants from the Municipal Solid Waste Sector made a site-visit in San Carlos City last April 4, 2018.

San Carlos City Mayor Gerardo P. Valmayor Jr. was very pleased when the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Clean Tourist City Award was presented to him, yesterday.

Valmayor reminded the City Tourism Office and the City Environment Management Office (CEMO) to review the indicators required by the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standard, to improve on it especially the cleanliness and other environmental programs.
