City Mayor Delights In ASEAN Clean City Tourist Award

San Carlos City Mayor Gerardo P. Valmayor Jr. was very pleased when the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) Clean Tourist City Award was presented to him, yesterday.

Valmayor reminded the City Tourism Office and the City Environment Management Office (CEMO) to review the indicators required by the ASEAN Clean Tourist City Standard, to improve on it especially the cleanliness and other environmental programs. 

Local Fishers’ Group Gets Financial Assistance

The Buluangan-Sumulog Fisherfolks Association received financial aid of P200,000 from the city government of San Carlos last Jan. 15, 2018.

The group’s treasurer Elenita Legaria stated that said amount will be used to buy the necessary fishing nets for the 9 members of their group who used to catch fish with the prohibited types of fishing nets which could include small fish and cause destruction to the sea environment.

City Conducts Public Hearing On Tourism Code 

The city government of San Carlos scheduled a public hearing on the proposed Tourism Code for the city which will be known as “San Carlos City Tourism Code of 2018” last January 15, 2018.

Said proposed ordinance aimed at developing the city’s tourism products and destinations that would make San Carlos City a major tourist destination in Negros Island; identifying infrastructure and institutional development programs to help support the tourism industry; encouraging private investment in tourism; and, enabling the creation of new jobs and businesses to help promote sustainable socio-economic growth in the city.

 

Brgy. Bagonbon Coop Gets P1M Aid

The Bagonbon Agrarian Reform Cooperative (BARC) in Brgy. Bagonbon, San Carlos City received a P1M financial assistance from the Dep’t of Labor and Employment (DOLE) Reg. 6 thru San Carlos City’s Public Employment Service Office (PESO) last Jan. 11, 2018.

Labor Employment Officer II and Focal Person of DOLE’s Integrated Livelihood Program Noemi Dela Peña handed over the cheque for its working carabao production project to BARC Chairman Enriqueto Juanillo and told beneficiaries that said amount can already purchase 25 carabaos for their farm.

Calatrava and Toboso To Continue To Use San Carlos City’s Landfill

The municipalities of Calatrava and Toboso in Negros Occidental province renewed their contract with San Carlos City in the accommodation of their residual wastes at the city’s sanitary landfill.

The signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the representativesof said municipalities Mayor Araceli Somosa of Calatrava and Mayor Richard Jaojoco of Toboso and San Carlos City Mayor Gerardo P. Valmayor Jr. was done last Jan. 10, 2018.

City Conducts Training For Neighboring Emergency Responders

San Carlos City thru its City Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Office (CDRRMO) pulled off the last five days of the series of trainings for members of various local emergency response teams of the areas near San Carlos City last Jan. 9-13, 2018.

LDRRM Assistant Rouel Riantoco said that the free training conducted by the CDRRMO staff aimed at sharing the standard first aid and basic life support and making collaboration with responders from Escalante City and the municipalities of Toboso, Don Salvador Benedicto, and Vallehermoso especially when it comes to emergency outside San Carlos City area.
