City Gets Fund for Children’s Nutrition

The city government of San Carlos thru City Mayor Gerardo P. Valmayor Jr. received the check worth P1.4M from Nona Tad-y, Regional Nutrition Program Coordinator Reg. VI of the Department of Health (DOH) during the turn-over held May 11, 2017 at the City Mayor’s Office.

Said fund will be used in the implementation of the Early Childhood Care and Development (ECCD) in the First 1,000 Days program of the DOH that aimed at improving the health and nutritional status of the Filipino children from aged zero to two years old especially of those pregnant women or families under the Pantawid, Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the government.

Tad-y said that thru the work and financial plan, the high percentage in malnutrition in the five cities and municipalities in Negros Occidental province including San Carlos City will be corrected and improved.

Right after the turn-over of said check, the City Nutrition Council headed by Dr. Jose Carlos Villarante also had its meeting with the City Nutrition Committee attended by the DOH Reg. VI ECCD Nutrition Officer II Sheryl Sedantes and ECCD Coordinator Stephanie Guinoo. Also present at said meeting were the punong barangays of the 18 barangays of the city.

Ana Maria Portuguez, who just retired as Nutrition Officer III of the City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWD) was also given a certificate of recognition that time for her service and dedication as member of the City Nutrition Council.
