San Carlos City Inmates Undergo Skills Training

At least 22 inmates of the Bureau of Jail Management & Penology (BJMP) in San Carlos City were placed in a two-day skills training in abaca fiber knotting at the BJMP compound today until tomorrow.

Participating inmates were experienced in making souvenirs items and have already gone previous training on abaca.

Jail Officer III Richard Go thanked the Cooperatives & Livelihood Development Office (CLDO) for making said training available for the inmates so they would have more skills enough to help them start anew when they go out of prison.

He also encouraged the inmates to make good at said training to come up with better quality output.

John Rey Sanchez, Production Supervisor & Asst Designer of Cebu Interlace Weavers Corp who served as trainer explained that their company will be the one to buy their knotted fibers for P600 per kilo as materials for various products including bags, upholstery, curtains, placemats, garments, among others.

CLDO Cooperatives Development Specialist I Grace Nequinto said that the BJMP inmates were already considered by their office as partners in Abaca development program and they intend to give more training to said inmates in the future.
