City Conducts Public Hearing On Tourism Code

The city government of San Carlos scheduled a public hearing on the proposed Tourism Code for the city which will be known as “San Carlos City Tourism Code of 2018” last January 15, 2018.

Said proposed ordinance aimed at developing the city’s tourism products and destinations that would make San Carlos City a major tourist destination in Negros Island; identifying infrastructure and institutional development programs to help support the tourism industry; encouraging private investment in tourism; and, enabling the creation of new jobs and businesses to help promote sustainable socio-economic growth in the city.

Sangguniang Panlungsod (SP) Member Jonie Uy, Chairman of the Committee on Tourism presided said hearing together with SP members Christopher Paul Carmona and Engr. Clint Mansueto.

City Tourism Development Officer Philip Gerard Maisog presented the draft for said code and noted the various reactions given by representatives of various sectors who attended said hearing to help improve the creation of said proposed ordinance.

Other concerns discussed at said hearing include management of cultural heritage, tourism ventures, businesses, museums, campsites, historical landmarks and monuments among others.
