Farmers of Barangays Codcod & Quezon Receive Rice Seeds

At least 80 local farmers in Barangays Codcod and Quezon in San Carlos City received certified inbred seeds of rice from the Philippine Rice Research Institute (PhilRice) under its Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund (RCEF) yesterday, Jan. 22, 2020.

Varieties of RC216 and RC222 in 400 bags were distributed to the list of farmers under the Registry System for Basic Sectors in Agriculture (RSBA).

Every one hectare is provided with 1 bag of said seeds in 20 kilos.

Sheena Lourdes Dalumpines, RCEF Provincial Coordinator said that the assistance is part of the P3B budget allocated by the national government in procuring certified inbred seeds to be distributed to farmers all over the country.

Fennie Lyn Pantin, RCEF Regional Coordinator was also present during the distribution to inform farmers regarding the Rice Tarrification law and the advantages it bring to them.

The City Agriculturist’s Office headed by Engr. Devitt Dollosa and his staff facilitated the said distribution.
