Local Farmers Learn Garlic Production
At least 25 local farmers in Brgy. Prosperidad, San Carlos City, were taught about planting garlic last Nov. 11, 2019 at the City Agriculture’s Demo-Farm in said barangay.
The city government thru its City Agriculturist’s Office facilitated said activity in coordination with the DA-Bureau of Plant Industry – Los Baños National Crop Research Development & Production Support Center (BPI-LBNCRDPSC).

Prosperidad, this city. Said activity enabled the participants to plant six kinds of garlic including Romblon, Mexican,
Batanes, Ilocos, Miracle and Tan Bolter varieties.
Lorna Tepper, Agriculturist of the Bureau of Plant Industry said that they want to develop the project on multi-location adaptability of garlic cultivars not just in Regions 3 & 5 but also Region 6.
She cited that Brgy. Prosperidad was chosen for the garlic production because of its vast agricultural lands suitable for garlic to grow best.
Sosimo Traña, president of the Barangay Prosperidad Organic Village Farmers Association (BPOVFA) was thankful to the resource team for providing time to teach them the technique of planting garlic since it was their first time to learn.
He added that garlic production will be a significant addition to their crops and a big source of income since it can be harvested after three months only.
