Gustilo called on a meeting this morning among local agencies concerned on how to carry on with the strict implementation of road clearing operation following the memorandum circular no. 2019-121 of the Department of the Interior and Local Government urging for the reclamation of public roads which are being used privately or for business including illegal parking of vehicles on the streets causing traffic obstruction.
Said directive was given by the DILG to accomplish within 60 days and make it sustainable.

The verification of conflicting streets and establishments by the City Planning and Development Coordinator’s Office (CPDCO) is now underway since the city mayor wants to have the list by next week for swift action and to notify concerned individuals for coordination and voluntary clearing, otherwise, the local government will exact tough measures to clear public roads of any obstruction.
The Business Permits & Licensing Office was likewise advised by the city mayor to revoke permits of establishments that will not cooperate in the road clearing operations and for the Engineering Department not to approve construction of business establishments without provision of parking space for customers.
The city mayor also cited to regulate vendors outside schools to ease traffic and have a one-side parking scheme along Locsin and Broce streets and national highway.
Other local agencies tasked by the city mayor for said operation are the City Legal Office, Philippine National Police, the Law Enforcement Team, Information Office including Barangay officials to regularly monitor the streets and areas subjected to the clearing to ensure sustainability.
Said operation is expected to be finished prior to deadline or before the end of September 2019.
