City Proposes Ordinance on Solar Power Generation System

A public hearing was conducted by San Carlos City Sangguniang Panlungsod on the “Proposed Ordinance Providing for the Imposition and Collection of Service Charges or Fees for the Charging of Electricity from the Off-Grid Solar Powered System Equipment in the City of San Carlos, Negros Occidental” yesterday, April 12, 2016 at SP Session Hall.

Said proposed ordinance pertained to the establishment of an off-grid solar powered system with charging bay at e-classrooms in public schools of remote barangays including collection of service charge/fee in the use of said equipment.

Said move aimed at providing electricity to residents of remote barangays particularly in the use of their cellphones, flashlights, rechargeable lamps and other home devices.
The proposed minimum service charge for charging said devices is P10.00 only to be collected thru the barangay with issuance of official receipt.

Stated in said proposed ordinance include that the city government will bear the daily operation and maintenance of said off-grid solar power equipment thru the barangay, public elementary school administration and Parents-Teachers Association.
