San Carlos City Agriculture Amass Awards in Panaad 2016

San Carlos City Agriculture Office received 9 awards during the Pasidungog sa Panguma kag Pangisda Program of the Provincial Agriculture Office during the Panaad sa Negros 2016 celebration and awarding rites last April 16, 2016.

In the Individual Category, 7 farmers from San Carlos City were awarded with trophies, certificates and cash prizes namely Carlito Panaguiton of Brgy. Quezon as Outstanding Person with Disability Practicing Agriculture who received P25,000 cash prize; Jerico Vergavera of Brgy. Bagonbon as Outstanding Farmer Innovator with a cash prize of P20,000; Francisco Chan, Jr. of Brgy.Bagonbon as Outstanding High Value Crop Farmer (Fruits) with cash prize of P25,000; Crisanto Umba of Brgy. Quezon as Outstanding Integrated Rice Farmer with a cash prize of P20,000; Elmer Reyes, Jr., City Agriculture Technician as Outstanding Technician on Artificial Insemination-Large Animals with cash prize of P20,000; Dr. Romeo Agraviador, Jr., Outstanding Integrated Farming Practitioner with cash prize of P25,000; and, San Carlos City Livestock Center as Outstanding LGU on Pasture Development managed by Cesar Carballo, Jr. who received the P25,000 cash prize.

In the group category, Codcod Agrarian Reform Community Cooperative (CARCC) managed by Cesar Salas, Coop Chairman was awarded as Outstanding Small Farmer Organization and was given P50,000 cash prize while Barangay Prosperidad Organic Village Association was also awarded as Outstanding Cluster Association with highest Negros First Universal Crop Insurance Program enrollees in corn and received P50,000.

Meanwhile, former Sr. Agriculturist, the late Rolando Luague was also recognized for his contribution in the field of livestock especially in artificial insemination for large animals and was given a posthumous award.

Gov. Alfredo Marañon, Jr. and Dr. Renante Decena, Provincial Veterinarian led said award distribution.
