San Carlos City underwent Environmental Governance Evaluation
The city of San Carlos was evaluated, this time for its Environmental Governance under the Seal of Good Local Governance (SGLG) of the Province of Negros Occidental for its gold seal program, earlier today, April 27, 2016.

The evaluating team from the Provincial Environment Management Office (PEMO) was headed by Atty. Wilfredo Ramon Peñalosa together with representatives from various divisions of PEMO who made the actual validation of the city’s environmental management program.
Engr. Arthur Batomalaque, Officer-In-Charge of the City Environment Management Office (CEMO) of San Carlos City briefed evaluators of the city’s various environmental programs including the solid waste management, pollution control, climate change adaptation and implementation and enforcement of environmental protection program.
He also cited the milestones that the city has achieved over the years in terms of program development for the environment which brought functional means and significant change to the city.
Atty. Peñalosa on the other hand commended San Carlos City for its wholistic approach to environmental management. He said they expect San Carlos City to participate in the same contest next year for the platinum seal since it’s already at the forefront being the number one local government unit (LGU) that upholds good environmental management.
He added that more will be expected from San Carlos City in terms of innovation and that the city deserved to be an example for other LGUs for its good environmental management practices.
