San Carlos City Launches We Love San Carlos Campaign

The city government of San Carlos thru the City Environment Management Office (CEMO) launched the We Love San Carlos campaign, May 13, 2016 at the city hall lobby.

We Love San Carlos launching headed by City Mayor Gerardo P. Valmayor Jr., VGuv Eugenio Jose V. Lacson and City Administrator Greg Santillan. Also DILG Neg. Occ. Dir. Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag with stakeholders and local functionaries.

Said campaign aimed at inspiring and raising awareness for the sustainability progress made by San Carlos City; giving the general public an opportunity to celebrate, vote and upgrade its city through making suggestions to decision makers; and, rewarding communities and strengthening the bond between the public and decision makers.

San Carlos City Mayor Gerardo P. Valmayor, Jr. called on the community to support and be part in making San Carlos City the Most Lovable City in the world in 2016 by contributing their wisdom and talent thru the use of the social media.

Engr. Arthur Batomalaque of CEMO explained that by logging on to #welovecities.org/san-carlos/ one can already vote for San Carlos City from among the 46 cities of the 20 countries around the world that participated in said competition by the World Wide Fund for Nature (WWF).
He said that one may also vote thru postings of pictures, quotes and suggestions using ‪#‎welovesancarlosph‬ for as much as three times a day every day.

Negros Occidental Vice-Gov. Eugenio Jose “Bong” Lacson and former city mayor of San Carlos City said that on personal note he love the city because it is his comfort place where he feels he’s not alone because the whole city is with him.

He also encouraged those present during said launching to continue to unite and show support to make San Carlos City a sustainable, lovable and even an exotic city in the world.

Ma. Joy Maredith Madayag, Provincial Director of the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) was also present at said event to deliver the message of DILG Regional Director Margie Biligan that the DILG will help and support San Carlos City in any way they can just like what they did for the underground river in Palawan which became one of the wonders in the world.

San Carlos City represented thru the San Carlos Borromeo cathedral and pedicab emblem was recognized by WWF as one of the cities in the world that worked to mitigate the effects of climate change thru the promotion of renewable energy, effective solid waste management and other significant environment conservation programs and projects.

San Carlos City was awarded internationally as second Most Livable City in the World in 2011.
