San Carlos City joins nationwide Clean-up 2016
San Carlos City government thru its City Environment Management Office (CEMO) led the National Clean-Up Day activity simultaneous with International Coastal Clean-Up early in the morning with a short briefing at the city hall ground, last Sept. 17, 2016.
City Mayor Gerardo P. Valmayor, Jr. encouraged people to participate in any cleaning activity or maintain cleanliness in the surroundings to avoid pollution and diseases and to help protect and preserve the environment.
Participating groups composed of local government employees, private sectors, business establishments and other volunteer groups were dispersed to assigned areas at the coastal, mountain and at various locations in the urban areas including the national hiway.
San Carlos City was also able to plant 2,000 fruit trees (Langka, Durian and Rambutan) at So. Nabatang, Brgy. Prosperidad in contribution to the national government’s target to plant 5 million trees.
Every year, the city conducts tree planting and clean-up activities in cooperation with various sectors to free waterways, coastal areas and various corners in the city of plastics and other hazardous wastes which are detrimental to people’s health and welfare of the environment.
