Sustainable Farming Launched

San Carlos City local farmers were encouraged to include other crops in farming aside from coconut trees during the launching of Philippine Coconut Authority –Local Government Unit (PCA-LGU) Coconut Diversified Farming Approach yesterday, Sept. 29, 2016.

Said program aimed at teaching local farmers diversified techniques in various crops farming and how to make different products out of coconut trees.

PCA Provincial Coconut Dev’t. Manager Rodrigo Gamarcha, Jr. said that the concept of said program is to maximize resources and create more useful products for sustainable livelihood.

Said launching was held at 3RIntegrated Farm at So. Tonggo, Brgy. Palampas owned by Dr. Romeo Agraviador, Jr.  as model farm for said project since PCA saw its potential in organic farming and livestock raising.

Dr. Agraviador on the other hand, said that he welcomed said launching at his property since he wants people to know about it as he was eyeing to expand the function of said farm into an agri-tourist frontier and to help farmers at said area improve their resources.

Aside from PCA personnel, present during said event includes staff from Cooperatives Livelihood Development Office and representatives of various groups and associations of farmers in the whole province of Negros Occidental assisted by Brgy. Palampas Punong Barangay Danny Suan and staff.
