SAN CARLOS CITY GETS AWARD FOR ANTI-DRUG DRIVE
San Carlos City being one of the Negros Island Region’s Top Anti-Drug Campaigners was accorded the Iwag Award for Peace and Order by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) during its Regional Local Governance Summit yesterday in Bacolod City.
Said award was given due to the city’s barangay based wellness program for those illegal drug personalities who surrendered during the Oplan Tokhang and Double Barrel operations of the local police so they will be given strong moral, physical and livelihood support for them to permanently do away with illegal drug activities.
Said wellness program was the collaboration among the city government of San Carlos thru its Anti-drug Council, local PNP, inter-faith or religious groups and Barangay 3 which is the pilot area for said project.
San Carlos City Police Station was also awarded as one of the five outstanding police stations in the region for having the highest number of surrenderees (861 illegal drug personalities) in Negros Occidental from July to September this year.
The DILG also awarded San Carlos Bishop Gerardo Alminaza for the church’s effort in support to said anti-illegal drug campaign and wellness program.
