San Carlos City Veterinary, Outstanding Rabies Program Implementer
The San Carlos City Veterinary Office under the City Agriculturist’sOffice is one of the recipients in today’s Outstanding Rabies Implementer Awards in the Negros Island Region (NIR) at Bacolod Pavilion Hotel in Bacolod City, March 30, 2017.
Joyce S. Wendam, OIC-Regional Executive Director of the Department of Agriculture (DA)-NIR in her letter to San Carlos City Mayor Gerardo P. Valmayor Jr. informing him of said award said that the city’s contribution in the implementation of rabies prevention and control was vital in the initial success of Rabies-Free NIR 2020 project.
The DA-NIR culminates the celebration of the Rabies Awareness Month 2017 this March with said awarding of the Outstanding Rabies Program Implementers in the Region thru its Regional Rabies Prevention and Control Committee.
San Carlos City Agriculturist Engr. Devitt Dollosa receives the award together with the local Veterinary staff Luciani Napari since Dr. Jeff Reonal, City Veterinarian was attending a conference.
San Carlos City is very active in the implementation of rabies prevention and control program. In 2015 to 2016, there was no rabies incidence recorded in the city because of its strong campaign including training of barangay tanods in dog catching and vaccination in relation to the city’s ordinance in catching stray dogs on the streets aside from the information education campaign in various schools.
