San Carlos City Farmers Cited in 2017 Panaad Sa Negros Festival

Several local farmers of San Carlos City were awarded anew for the 2017 Pasidungog sa Panguma, Pangisda Kag Pangkasapatan during the weeklong celebration of the 24th Panaad Sa Negros Festival at the Panaad Park and Stadium in Bacolod City last April 29, 2017.

Awardees for the individual category include Dr. Romeo Agraviador Jr., as Outstanding Integrated Farming Practitioner; Fritzie Dolocanog, Outstanding Livestock and Poultry Entrepreneur; and, Elmer Reyes Jr., Outstanding Technician in Artificial Insemination for Large Animals.

Other winners also include Roselyn Basalan as Outstanding Negros First Universal Crop Insurance Program (NFUCIP) Farmer for Corn and Bagonbon Small Farmers Association as Outstanding Association with highest NFUCIP enrollees represented by Jerico Vergavera.

Aside from the trophies and certificates each received, said winners were also given cash prizes of P20,000 for the individual category while P50,000 was given to the winning association.

In the One Town One Product (OTOP) exhibit within each pavilion, San Carlos City emerged as 2nd Top Grosser with P1.2M sales next to Cadiz City with just a slight difference of around a hundred thousand pesos gross sales while the Municipality of Calatrava landed as third.

In the home accessories and furniture category, San Carlos City secured the third prize.

Said weeklong Panaad sa Negros celebration ran from April 22 to April 30, 2017 and carried the theme “Shining Bright at 24”.
