San Carlos City Mayor Gerardo P. Valmayor Jr. said that protection of said birds should be observed and creation of the necessary ordinance to that effect must be made.

Lisa Paguntalan, Executive Director of PBCFI cited the city mayor’s initiative and plan since the birds’ existence proves that the island is rich in biodiversity and its presence can be a good tourism potential as well.

Paguntalan added that the group working on the management of the Tañon Strait Protected Seascape (TSPS) should widen its scope to include Sipaway Island, being marine protected area and encourage local government units along Tañon Strait to take responsibility towards protecting the biodiversity within each area.
