San Carlos City Opens 2017 Charter Day celebration

The city government of San Carlos, Neg. Occ. opened the 2017 celebration of its 57th Charter Day Anniversary on July 1 with the invitational chess tournament for masters last June 3-4.

Said two-day event was attended by 78 chess players including international and national masters from as far as Manila, Cebu and other neighboring places in the Visayas and NIR region.

Winners for said event include Fide Master Sander Severino of Bacolod City as champion who won P15,000 cash and trophy followed by Edsel Montoya of Cebu who received P10,000 and trophy while Danmaersk Mangao of Bacolod City landed on the 3rd spot with P5,000 cash prize and trophy.

Other winners who belong to the 4th up to the 10th places include Christopher Tubalado, Brylle Arellano, International Master Joel Pimentel, Ted Ian Montoyo, Ellan Asuela, Jerich Cajeras and National Master Carlito Lavega.

Top Female Player was from Bacolod City, Eden Tumbos while the Top Under 13-Player was clinched by Jamon Cajeras.

Local players who made it as Top 5 San Carlos Players include Elizardo Paslon, Brian Nanalabe, Jack Silva, Vishnu Nanalabe and Raphael Ramiso.

Said event was facilitated by chess enthusiast and player Henry Silva of the Public Transport Terminal.

This year’s celebration focuses on the theme “Enhancing Integrity in Governance through Community Involvement” by which programs and various events encourage unity and honesty among workers in the local government service while promoting participation among the community.
