Peace Covenant for 2018 Barangay Elections Signed

The Peace Covenant Signing gathered the 349 candidates for the Barangay and Sangguniang Kabataan (SK) Elections in San Carlos City, this morning.

All candidates running for said elections attended the Mass of Commitment held at the Parish Pastoral Council building after which the signing of said covenant facilitated by the church, civil society groups, Comission on Elections (COMELEC) and the Philippine National Police followed.

City Mayor Gerardo P. Valmayor Jr. encouraged all candidates to have a good plan and advocacy to serve the community to become an effective leader.

The Acting Election officer Belleza Bulado of COMELEC- San Carlos said that filing of candidacy in the city was very orderly and that her office has already prepared everything for the coming elections.

She also briefed candidates of the right things to do especially during the campaign period and election day itself to avoid violations.

San Carlos City PNP Acting Chief of Police, Police Superintendent D’Artagnan Katalbas on the other hand assured the public that they keep watch for any eventualities in the elections on May 14, 2018 but said the city is in peaceful condition.

The 349 candidates from among the 18 barangays of San Carlos City consist of 191 for the barangay and 158 for the SK.
