San Carlos City Hosts Future Tourism Leaders Camp

At least 41 young delegates from the six provinces of Region 6 arrived in San Carlos City for the three-day Future Tourism Leaders Camp from May 19-21, 2019.

Said activity initiated by the Department of Tourism (DOT) Reg. VI thru the help of the Negros Occidental Provincial Tourism Office aimed at increasing awareness, engaging the youth about tourism industry and providing them venue for their involvement in the tourism sector.

Atty. Sedfrey Cabaluna, DOT 6 Supervising Tourism Operations Officer said the camp was held in San Carlos City because of the high recommendation by tourism officers of Reg. 6 for its sustainable best practices that would offer a lot of learning experiences for the delegates which they could implement in their respective places.

Some of the discussions during lectures and workshops centered on Personality Development and Communications by Freelance Consultant in Bacolod City Mr. Rene Hinojales; Feature and News Writing by Iloilo Metropolitan Times Main Writer Mr. Ted Aldwin Ong; Basic Acting workshop by Retired Director of ABS-CBN Domingo Molina-; Organizing Seminar & Events by Proprietor/Manager of TMX (DOT accredited tour operator) and MICE organizer Dr. Ma. Amihan T. Panes; and, Maximizing Social Media in Photography & Captioning by DOT Reg. 6 Tourism Operations Officer I Mr. Ray Tabafunda.

The group also made site visits to Sipaway Island and other tourism spots of the city.
