San Carlos City Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo administered the oathtaking of the new officers of the Fisheries and Aquatic Resources Management Council (FARMC) and People’s Law Enforcement Board (PLEB) today, August 6, in his office.

The FARMC officers who took their oath include: Chairman – Aida Gando of Buluangan Fisherfolk Vendors Association; Vice Chairman – Renato B. Garing of Villarante Seaside Fisher Folks Association; Secretary – Sonia Gumilao of San Juan Baybay Fisher Folks Workers Association; Treasurer – Mary Jean Retalla of Tapon Fisher Folks and Workers Association; PIO – Jerome Pescante of Hiusa Fisher Folks Association; Auditor – April Honey Genon of Kabutoy Fisher Folks Association; Sgt.-at-Arms – Ermegelio P. Fenequito of Ardore Fisher Folks Association.

Melvin Maglayon, Community Development Assistant of the Coastal Resource Management Office said that as mandated by law, FARMC members serve as a recommendatory body to the Sangguniang Panlungsod relative to fisheries and coastal resource management laws; he added that no fisheries-related laws within the coastal waters of San Carlos City will be implemented without endorsement from FARMC.

On the other hand, the new PLEB officers who took their oath before Mayor Gustilo are Hon. Joseph Mark A. Antonio, SP Representative, and Hon. Roberto M. Tuting, Liga ng mga Barangay Representatives, while the sectoral representatives include Susan Y. Estrada for the academe, Beneto Y. Gustilo Jr. for the business sector, and Atty. Alexander Y. Ongtiaobok, Member of the BAR.

PLEB functions as the central receiving entity for any citizen’s complaint against officers and members of the Philippine National Police (PNP); SP Member Carlos Manuel Valmayor and SP staff were present during the PLEB officers’ oathtaking.
