The city government of San Carlos conducted the simultaneous lights-on ceremony of the Christmas decorations adorned all around the city last night, Dec. 2 at Rizal Square, public plaza.
The sight of Pasko sa Dakbayan was truly mesmerizing, with a giant parol, Christmas tree, and nativity scenes decorated with colorful lights at the City Hall, Public Plaza, major streets and landmarks, captivating the attention of hundreds of San Carloseños.
During the event, there was also a show featuring local talents and the Pintaflores Dance Company. The theme for this year was "Journey to Bethlehem, The Musical," which resonated with the spirit of Christmas.
City Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo in his message emphasized that Christmas is a time for reflection, gratitude, and unity. It is also an opportunity to release stress and cherish moments while fostering the spirit of Christmas.
He also thanked the city officials and the visitors from the Municipality of Tigbauan, Iloilo for joining the special event; and invited everyone to watch the various activities prepared by the city every Saturday night.
Meanwhile, along with the event was the opening of the food bazaar located at Bonifacio Square, showcasing local products that festive-goers can enjoy until January 2.
Notable attendees at the event included Mayor Atty. Virgilio Teruel from the Municipality of Tigbauan, and members of the San Carlos City Sangguniang Panlungsod, such as Jeffrey Hidalgo, Victoriana Cabili, Armando Laguda Jr., Benito Gustilo Jr., Executive Assistant Aireen Rose Gustilo, Department Heads City Waterworks Dept. Edward Sanchez, DRRM Officer Joe Recalex Alingasa Jr., City Assessor James Silva, DILG LGOO VI, Julie Shayne Barreto-Tagalog, PNP- San Carlos PLTCol Jesus Mesahon Jr., BJMP SCCDJ Jail Assistant Warden Inspector Jose Roberto Mapa and City Environment and Natural Resources Officer Engr. LOOK: The city government of San Carlos in Negros Occidental with Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo and members of the Sangguniang Panlungsod headed by Vice Mayor Christopher Paul S. Carmona commemorate the 160th birth anniversary of the Katipunan Leader and Philippine Hero Andres Bonifacio at the Bonifacio Square, Public Plaza, this morning, Nov. 27.
SP Members Armando Laguda Jr., Dr. Jose Carlos Villarante, Victoriana Cabili, Mark Cui, and Jeffrey Hidalgo with the local department heads, barangay and SK officials, veterans, and representatives of the Philippine National Police-San Carlos, Regional Mobile Force Batallion 6, Bureau of Fire Protection, Bureau of Jail Management & Penology, Department of Education, Boys and Girl Scouts of the Philippines, offered flowers at the foot of the statue of Andres Bonifacio.
Andres Bonifacio Elementary School faculty and staff facilitated the said event.

San Carlos City hosted the highly anticipated First Pintaflores Music Fest Aftermath, a musical event that showcased the talents of local bands last night, Nov. 26 at Rizal Square Public Plaza.
It was organized by the local government unit (LGU)-San Carlos in collaboration with Musician United San Carlos (MUSACA) and Blackbox Production.
The lineup of performers featured a diverse range of talented bands. Among the bands that graced the stage were Lokals Band, Atomik Banakon, 7Foot Frame, Tyrants, Patable, Made in SCC, Under Cover Junior, Under Cover, CLFRÑ, 6127 Records, T269, Cloves, and RW. Each band brought their unique sound and energy, captivating the audience throughout the night.
Joseph Jan Lobaton, Acting President of MUSACA, expressed that the main objective of the event was to provide a platform for local talents to shine and for the people of San Carlos to appreciate the bands within their community.
He also mentioned that City Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo praised the local bands for their exceptional performance during the Charter Day celebration last July, emphasizing the importance of recognizing and supporting their talent.
Lobaton further encouraged local artists to showcase their original compositions and expressed his hope that the community would support them. He thanked Mayor Gustilo for consistently creating opportunities for local talents to thrive.
In a heartwarming moment, all the bands came together to perform Bob Marley's iconic song, "One Love." This powerful performance aimed to inspire peace, hope, love, and unity, transcending any differences among people.
