San Carlos City Environment Management Office and Tourism Office and Team Ewit hosted the 2nd Northern Negros Natural Park (NNNP) Mountain Trail Run 2024 early this morning, August 10 at Sitio Punod, Brgy. Prosperidad.
At least 86 runners coming from the different cities and municipalities of Negros Occidental and Oriental competed in 8km and 12km race courses routed within the northern natural park of San Carlos City.
The awarding ceremony was held after the race with the following winners:
In the 8km Male Category, Ralph Niño Latigo hailed the champion followed by Cristian Lopez and Loiebel Lindayao as 1st and 2nd runners-up, respectively.
Gimar Magdalino won champion in 12km Male Category while Ivan Nocos and Rudy Niño Singular as 1st and 2nd runners-up.
As for the 8km Female Category, Nirvana Baynosa topped followed by 1st runner up Dhorea Benting and 2nd runner up Maria Sabrina Dela Victoria.
Meanwhile, in the 12km Female Category, Stephanie Cadosale claimed the top spot, followed by Gina Yongco and April Mae Salajeron in second and third places, respectively.
PENRO Joan Nathaniel Gerangaya and Kagawad Mario Masaba of Brgy. Prosperidad led the awarding of winners.
All participants received certificates, while the top three winners received additional cash prizes ranging from P4,000 to P1,500.
Tourism Operations Officer II Jennifer Saballa-Paran said the event is part of the 3rd NNNP Festival celebration, aimed at promoting the city’s protected areas and appreciating adventure sights and beautiful scenery, particularly in the mountains, since the city has potential trails for such activities.
Paran invited everyone to the formal opening of the festival on August 12 and witness the various activities prepared in Park Marina and People’s Park in the next three days.
Team Quantum Pacer Stephanie Cadosale, a 29-year-old runner who won the 12km Female Category, expressed her happiness about participating in the race and shared that consistent training and self-discipline are key to winning competitions.
Team Ewit Organizer MJ Fajardo thanked the city government of San Carlos and Provincial Environment Natural Resources Office for the support given.
