Hundreds of Sancarloseños Complete DIgital Courses
At least 434 beneficiaries of Technology Empowerment for Education, Employment, Entrepreneurship, and Economic Development (Tech4Ed) in San Carlos City graduated from the 10th joint commencement exercises yesterday, Jan. 17, at the City Auditorium.
Said beneficiaries graduated from the 17 different Tech4ED centers in 14 barangays in the city where they completed their courses.
Information Technology Officer Engr. Joseph Binghay, Project In-charge Felix Cawit, Jr., Sangguniang Panlalawigan member Victoriana Cabili, and City Administrator Atty. Estefanio S. Libutan Jr. led the distribution of the certificates to the graduates.
Cawit said the program aimed at bridging the gap of digital literacy among Filipinos; he shared that the graduates completed their digital literacy courses such as basic computer operation, basic photo editing training, Autocad training, and learning English applications for Pinoys.
He also thanked the local government unit (LGU)-San Carlos, the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT), the Department of Education, the Alternative Learning School, and barangay officials for the support.
Binghay on the other hand, welcomed the graduates to the event saying it’s a way to celebrate their hard work and the community’s commitment in harnessing technology for growth and development.
Asst. Schools Division Superintendent Officer In-charge Teresa Geroso also said the Tech4Ed is the strong dedication of the government to provide everyone an opportunity to strive and be empowered.
Libutan also shared Mayor Gustilo’s word in making it possible for every barangay in San Carlos City to have its own Tech4Ed center and provide digital literacy among local residents; SP Cabili also commended the Tech4Ed San Carlos for being recognized in the whole region as a Digital Transformation Center.
