The local government unit (LGU) of San Carlos City with the Philippine Taekwondo Association and the City Sports Office successfully held the Smart MVP Sports Foundation’s 1st Inter-LGU Taekwondo Championships 2025 yesterday, July 6, at the City Auditorium.

At least 300 players from the cities of Bayawan, Bais, Bacolod, Dumaguete, Canlaon, Himamaylan, Victorias, Hinigaran, and San Carlos, and the municipalities of Binalbagan, Ilog, Isabela, San Enrique, and La Libertad, competed in 17 different categories, with the winners receiving medals and trophies.
Winners include: Champion – SCCTTC Falcon Maroons (San Carlos City) with 18 golds, 13 silvers, and 8 bronze 1st Runner-Up – Black Dragon Martial Arts (Bacolod City) with 15 golds, 10 silvers, and 4 bronze 2nd Runner-Up – City of Himamaylan (North) with 13 golds, 13 silvers, and 6 bronze 3rd Runner-Up – Municipality of La Libertad with 2 golds, 4 silvers, and 2 bronze


Philippine Taekwondo Association Regional Management Committee – NIR Chairman Harny P. Tabuada reminded all athletes that stepping into the competition area meant carrying not just their chapter’s name but the pride, spirit, and identity of their entire local government units — a call to compete with honor and a deep sense of responsibility.
He added that the Philippine Taekwondo Association will mark its 50th anniversary this year; reflecting on how a once-simple dream has grown into a powerful national movement that continues to inspire and empower young athletes to carry the legacy forward with discipline and dedication.
The competition, held in line with the 65th Charter Anniversary celebrations, was attended by Sports Office Head Jesus Facundo Combate Jr. along with parents and supporters.
