San Carlos City local government thru City Social Welfare and Development Office (CSWDO) and San Carlos City Anti-Drug Abuse Council (SCCADAC), launched the first-ever Community-Based Drug Rehabilitation Program (CBDRP) for Children in Conflict with the Law (CICL) yesterday, Dec. 9, at Barangay 3 Hall.
At least 14 CICLs, mostly former drug users, will undergo a 10-day rehab program, an intervention aimed at fostering self-awareness, values development, and community reintegration.

The program also helps CICL confront their past behaviors, understand the risks of substance use, and relate to others’ experiences; fostering improved relationships and openness.
CICL Focal Person SWO I Feen R. Libre said that the intervention prioritizes a holistic approach, benefiting both CICLs and their families while ensuring the children receive the guidance and support needed to sustain progress and contribute positively to their communities.

She added that the CBDRP will now be implemented annually to support the progress of CICL.
On the other hand, 12 of the children underwent random drug testing; one of them tested positive.
