The Philippine National Police (PNP) San Carlos City conducted an orientation on Republic Act No. 9262, also known as Anti-Violence Against Women and Their Children (VAWC) Act of 2004 and Anti-Terrorism today, March 13, at Brgy. Punao Covered Court.

The activity is part of PNP-San Carlos’ women empowerment campaign in celebration of National Women’s Month, themed “Babae sa Lahat ng Sektor, Aangat ang Bukas sa Bagong Pilipinas.”
At least 45 women, including Barangay Health Workers (BHW), Barangay Nutrition Scholars (BNS), and members of the Sangguniang Kabataan (SK), participated in the event.

Police Chief Master Sergeant (PCMS) Ma. Angelie Oferio and Police Corporal Levi Pardillo of the Regional Mobile Force Battalion 6 served as resource persons. Oferio said the orientation aimed to raise awareness about women’s rights and called on men to respect and care for their wives instead of resorting to abuse.
Brgy. Punao Administrator and VAWC Officer Ma. Ariel Gatungay thanked the PNP for conducting the session and hoped that BHWs and BNS members would help spread awareness of women’s rights in their respective communities.

Police Staff Sergeant (PSSG) Ma. Filomena Flores also assisted in facilitating the orientation.
