Representatives of the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA)-Negros Occidental oriented the local functionaries in San Carlos City on the 2024 Census of Population-Community-Based Monitoring System (POPCEN-CBMS) at the SP Session Hall yesterday, May 17.
Statistical Specialist II and CBMS Focal Person Fred Gonzales of PSA-Negros Occidental led the orientation focused on the importance of the census, how to conduct it, and who will do the survey from July to September during the third quarter of 2024.
Employees of the different local and national offices, City Planning and Development Coordinator’s Office, City DRRM Office, Local Civil Registrar’s Office, Dep’t of the Interior and Local Gov’t, Department of Education, San Carlos City Primary Care Facility, City Eng’g Dep’t, City Tourism Office, Philippine National Police, Public Employment Service Office, City Social Welfare & Dev’t Office, City Env’t Mgt. Office, Liga ng mga Barangay, Negosyo Center, CSOs, City Agriculturist Office, City Budget Office, and Cooperatives and Livelihood Development Office attended the orientation.
Gonzales said about 90 enumerators will gather data such as barangay profile, demographics, health and nutrition, education, disaster risk reduction management, social protection, housing characteristics, food security, and peace and order, from the different barangays using the CBMS app from July to September 2024.
He added the survey complies with the Data Privacy Act of 2012.
The POPCEN-CBMS would provide the local executives, policy and decision-makers, and planners with updated population data, which would be the basis for social and economic development plans, policies and programs, allocation of resources at various geographical levels, and updates the social beneficiaries of the Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4Ps) of the Department of Social Welfare and Development.
