San Carlos City Fire Station with the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)Special Rescue Force of Negros Occidental (SRFNO) held a Fire Square Road Show yesterday afternoon, March 6, at Paseo de Flores, Center Mall, in line with the observance of Fire Prevention Month.

The said event is the frontline program of BFP aimed at raising awareness on fire prevention and response; designed to train children on disaster preparedness.

BFP-San Carlos Operation Chief SOF 1 Jershon Abad said at least 63 children, ages 6-12 years old, including their guardians registered for the road show, where 33 tried the traverse line with rappelling.

Abad added that they also oriented the participants on the various BFP tools and equipment, proper use of fire extinguishers, how to put out a fire, E.D.I.T.H. or Exit Drill in the Home, and fire safety tips.

FO3 Patrick Abraham Lenaming of SRFNO said the activity is one of the highlights of the month-long activities for children to experience being a rescuer.
