The Brgy. Guadalupe officials in San Carlos City, in coordination with the City Health Office (CHO), conducted their annual bloodletting activity today, Feb. 17, at said barangay’s covered court.

At least 50 residents of Brgy. Guadalupe donated different blood types.

Necessary screenings, such as blood pressure health history checking and hemoglobin tests, were done before the final medical assessment by Dr. Minerva Alcarde of CHO.

Committee on Health and Nutrition Chair Brgy. Kagawad Homer Vicente Gonzales Jr. said the activity is part of their Health Board Program, which is done twice a year, in February and September.

He added the blood collected is essential for dengue victims and other people who need blood transfusion.

Gonzales thanked the city government and Mayor Renato Y. Gustilo, CHO, and Brgy. Guadalupe staff. He hoped more individuals would be encouraged to join in their bloodletting activity next time.

The 2nd-time donor and 49-year-old tanod Aladin Sediego said donating blood is his way of helping people.

Each donor also received 3 kilos of rice and a free lunch, while people who donated more than 30 times based on their donor cards received additional t-shirts.
